Twitter Do's and Don'ts

  • Do use 140 characters or fewer
  • Do include videos or pictures
  • Do highlight topics of interest amongst followers
  • Do Post Tuesday through Thursday before 5pm
  • Do use reliable resources
  • Do use clear, conscise topic heading
  • Don't retreet excessively
  • Don't use a quote as a tweet for an article
  • Don't use uncommon or excessive abbreviations
  • Don't use discipline-specific jokes or jargin
  • Don't post with too many links and hashtags
  • Don't use all uppercase type of face

Facebook Do's and Don'ts

  • Do keep posts positive
  • Do use relevant photos
  • Do highlight achievements
  • Do post Tuesday-Thursday before 5pm
  • Do use reliable resources
  • Do use clear, concise topic headings
  • Don't use irrelevant topics
  • Don't use all upercase typerface
  • Don't use uncommon or excessive abbreviations
  • Don't use discipline-specific jargon
  • Don't use sarcasm, criticism, or pessimism
  • Don't use unflattering photos
